The Story...
This is the story of Jack, a fairly normal boy living in a middle class environment. Decent house, decent food decent life. His parents where not happy, just tired, but they got by good enough and Jack had plenty enough care to grow up decent all round. He had friends and an average school record. He was good at maths and bad at sports, liked to read and discuss current topics with his friends. Jack was going through life just as he was meant to until the age of 15.
It was a night like all others and his parents had just tucked him into bed and given him the usual kiss goodnight and mumbled sweet dreams as they slunk off to their own beds to face the next day, a day jack would never see.
It was cold in his room as usual for the time of year but what was not usual was at some point in the night he found himself suddenly awaking, a creaking sound briefly coming from his own bedroom door. Very much conscious by now he sat up to inspect this strange phenomena. As he felt the gaze of something or someone immediately springing to the idea that one of his parents had awaken and came into his room, but this was highly unusual as they never ventured near his door after bedtime. Spotting what seemed to be a flicker of movement between the cracks, he made the decision of getting up to investigate this strange presence, but also with the simple intentions to get a glass of water as he was thirsty.
But when he opened the door to his room he did not find the usual sight of their own bland corridor greeting his eyes, but one of extravagance with strange pictures hung upon the walls and objects that couldn’t possible be described with words. Left hesitating at his own door frame for but a moment before stepping forward onto the unfamiliar carpet, the door now swinging shut behind him, very simply cutting off what was once known as his life. Little did he realise at that point that this was to be the last of his existence as a human being.
Now he wanders forever trapped in this corridor, he still has the ability to open the continuous doors that line the walls and venture into the rooms, but never able to leave through any other doors other than the one he came through. It doesn’t matter if someone else opens the door for him it’s just not physically possible anymore. These rooms are sometimes from the usual time period that Jacks familiar with and some clearly aren’t, some rooms don’t even seem like they are from his planet or even the current dimension. The corridor spreads through out time and space.
Jack has witnessed many a strange sight in the two years that he has been wondering. Some of which were horrifying to witness. His initial desperation to leave has been replaced with resignation and the slow process of becoming insane.
Now he is the shadow that stands at the crack of your door.
